Despite not receiving much media coverage, Haiti still needs much help. Let’s all do whatever we can.

Haiti (continued)

February 26, 2010

Dear fans,

Here we are to0 update you with Sun’s work in Haiti. Recently she is not just focusing on providing immediate relief but on improving the standard of living for the Haitians in the aftermath of this disaster.

One urgent need for water sanitation. Many of the Haitians did not have access to clean water previously and were seen drinking dirty, even muddy water.

However thanks to Sun and her team of volunteers, preparations have been made to purify their drinking supply.

On the 8th February, water purification equipment arrived! The Haitians have access to a safe and clean supply of drinking water.

Consultation rooms such as this have helped the volunteers to serve as many as 528 patients per room per day.

Another example of Sun’s effort to improve the Haitians’ standard of living is in the setting up of the tents for housing and shelter. This is to protect them from the harsh weather conditions such as heavy rainfall.

Sun and her team have helped bring smiles back into the lives of the Haitians.

fancy free is climbing the charts

Dear readers,

Great news for Sun’s first American single ‘Fancy Free’! After successfully clinching the top #1 position on the Billboard Dance Club/Play ‘Breakout’ chart, Sun is now moving up the Billboard Dance Club/Play Chart itself!

Check it all out here http://www.billboard.com/charts/dance-club-play-songs

‘Fancy Free’ is moving steadily up the charts and is now in the top 10 together with the likes of Rihanna’s ‘Hard’, Madonna’s ‘Revolver’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ and just 1 position behind Rihanna’s ‘Russian Rolette’!

It hit the number 6 position on the charts as of February 18th.

grammy’s – a note on comparison

February 2, 2010

Dear readers,

Internet-savvy as you are I’m sure many of you have caught hold of some of the pictures of our lovely Sun Ho at the 52nd Grammy Awards. I’m sure all of us would agree she looks just gorgeous wouldn’t you?

A little bit of leather and a little bit of lace, thats what we’d sum up Sun’s unique style as for this Grammy Awards Red Carpet moment.

However, I’m pretty sure that despite Sun’s success overseas, some people from our hometown might not choose to celebrate her success, but rather bring up some uncreative, irrelevant, unoriginal and frankly, boring points.

What else is ‘new’ right readers?

Perhaps they’ll rehash the point about Lady Gaga and Sun.

So before they do, I thought that I’d write a post and give my two cents worth about it. Now let’s take a look.

Let’s put it as simply as possible. Sun Ho’s hair is black, Lady Gaga’s hair is yellow-blonde. Now that’s pretty different isn’t it?

Sun’s hair is straight with an assymetrical fringe. Lady Gaga’s hair  is in loose waves.

Sun’s dress is black. Lady Gaga’s is white.

Sun’s dress is knee length. Lady Gaga’s is ankle length but comes up to her hip.

Sun’s shoes are black goth boots. Lady Gaga’s are shiny platform heels.

Now except the fact that they both have a pretty cool and daring sense of style that I wouldn’t dare to pull off, I’d say that in almost every other aspect of their style they aren’t just different they are almost polar opposites?

Pulling out the same old story with some ‘evidence’ is one thing, but pulling out the same old story without anything that points in that direction at all? And calling it newsworthy ‘news’?

I call that just ludicrous.

Sun in Haiti – Day 3

January 25, 2010

Day Three, January 22nd

The day begins early in Haiti at 5am when the sound of the Haitians’ singing permeates the air. They sing songs of encouragement to each other to press on and not give up. Sun describes their positive attitude simply as ‘amazing’.

At 7.55am, an aftershock struck. It was short but strong an estimated 6 on the Richter Scale. At 8.05am, a second aftershock struck.

Sun visited the Haitian press and spoke with families that lost their homes that the world sees their suffering and wants to help. She told them that doctors and nurses from around the world are coming to help alleviate their suffering.

Sun speaks to a security officer whose nephew was treated by the team. He has provided security for the team.

The day is a fruitful one and in all the team perform over 100 surgeries on injured Haitians, however there are still many that need help. This can be seen from the massive crowd waiting outside the makeshift medical base, trying to get in to seek medical treatment.

Sun in Haiti – Day 1 & 2

January 25, 2010

Dear readers,

I’m sure you’ve already been blown away, as I have been, by Sun’s relief efforts in Haiti. Below is a detailed account of the day-to-day efforts of Sun and her team of volunteers to help the land of Haiti.

Day One, January 20th

After a long journey including a stop-off to pick up medical supplies, the first team of Citycare volunteers reach Haiti. They immediately start treating victims of the earthquake. Citycare is a non-profit organisation with whom Sun sometimes works with in her humanitarian efforts. These volunteers come from all over Asia and have travelled for days to reach Haiti!

Meanwhile Sun begins to make her day-long journey to Haiti.

Day Two, January 21st

After a day long journey, Sun finally arrives at Haiti. She immediately sees many injured Haitians treated by the volunteer doctors and nurses.

The victims injuries are many and extensive. Having no medical aid for almost a week, many of their injuries have become infected and are now even more difficult to treat. There is an urgent need for more doctors and nurses.

At the end a long day Sun notes, ‘The day ends with a heavy heart. But hope comes from seeing the Haitian’s resolve and positiveness’. (http://twitter.com/mynameissun)
